We develop future energy markets. Our expertise for a decarbonised future
If natural gas appears like the most flexible transition fuel, by that supporting the energy transition, renewable gases are critical to decarbonise energy markets and serve as a carbon-free feedstock and fuel.
The EU-Commission as well as the German government aim at establishing mature and liquid hydrogen trading markets until 2030.
EEX Group is experienced in building up energy trading markets, connecting markets and different actors, as well as providing transparency through the publication of trustworthy reference prices.
Also, at EEX we are ready to create these new decarbonised gas markets and to help with all our experience in commodity trading. As such, we initiated in 2020 a market consultation and get involved with the industry to reflect on designing sustainable wholesale trading market for Hydrogen.
„It’s in our DNA to develop trading markets, with the market. Today hydrogen offers us the opportunity to act together for the decarbonization of the economy. I am thrilled EEX initiates that journey.“

EEX Hydrogen Working Group
More than 120 participants from 12 different countries came together for the kick-off of our new EEX hydrogen working group.
Supported by industry partners from hydrogen production, consumption and the finance sector, this workshop aimed at gathering ideas and wishes from market participants to develop a market-based hydrogen trading scheme for Europe.
Out of this kick-off event we gathered high commitment to join EEX hydrogen working group and to develop the market together with us.
