The power spot market for Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg is operated by EPEX SPOT. Power products which are settled on the same day (Intraday) or on the following day (Day-ahead) can be traded. The offer is supplemented by Trade Registration services.

On the power derivatives market of EEX financial and physical futures on power can be traded. This offer is supplemented by Trade Registration services. At EEX traders have access to the most liquid financial power future contract in Europe – the Phelix-DE Future. Since mid-June 2017, trading participants of EEX have had access to the Eastern European markets which were previously listed at PXE. Furthermore, options on power futures for Germany/Austria, France, Italy and Spain can be traded.

Since May 2017, the derivatives exchange Nodal Exchange has complemented the offer in power derivatives. On Nodal Exchange, more than 1,000 power contracts for North America can be traded.

The natural gas spot and derivatives markets are operated by Powernext under the “PEGAS” brand. The trading platform covers spot and derivatives market products for 12 gas hubs in 9 countries in Europe. In addition, trading in location and time spreads is offered.

EEX is the only exchange in Europe experienced in regular and large-scale primary market auctions for emission allowances on the spot market. It also runs a secondary market for continuous trading of EU ETS allowances (EUA, EUAA) and Kyoto credits (CER).

The agriculturals offering comprises financially settled derivatives contracts on dairy products (butter, skimmed milk powder and whey powder) and European processing potatoes. These products are available for order book trading and trade registration.

EEX and EEX Asia offer trading for Dry Bulk Freight derivatives contracts that allow hedging of volatile prices for freight rates of various types of ships and sea trade routes (forward freight agreements).



Via EEX Asia, EEX Group trading participants have access to financially settled futures on fuel oil in the most widely traded contracts internationally.



On the derivatives market, EEX Group offers exchange trading and Trade Registration of financially settled coal futures for the delivery points of Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp and Richards Bay.

The Trade Registration service for Iron Ore and Steel offered by EEX and EEX Asia allows the steel industry to manage price risks in a dynamic market.



EEX introduced  futures on industrial wood pellets for Trade Registration in 2017.
